Upgrading IP04/IP08 GUI to AsteriskNow Version 2 GUI Upgrading IP04/IP08 GUI to AsteriskNow Version 2 GUI

For users currently utilising version 1 Voiptel GUI

Note - May 2009 - This only applies to BAPS file system. Newer Atcoms no longer ship with this version.

Digiums AsteriskNow version 2 GUI is proving very stable on the ip0x range.

When upgrading from an existing version 1 GUI we have found the following to be the best method.

note:backup any configuration files that you require. Version 2 GUI requires a later version of asterisk to function

Run "ipkg list_installed" to check which packages are installed on your ip0x. Then run "ipkg remove" to uninstall the following

  • asterisk
  • voiptel gui
  • zaptel
  • voiptel-sounds

Run "ipkg update" to retrieve a list of available packages

Run "ipkg install" to install the following

  • asterisk-spandsp-1.4.21.2 (for caller ID)
  • asterisk-gui
  • zaptel-sport - (zaptel-ip01 for IP01)
  • native-sounds
  • network-static (Without this the device defaults to DHCP and I've had issues getting the IP01 to pick up an address)
Then:

root~> /etc/init.d/network disable
root~> /etc/init.d/network-static enable
root~> reboot

To change the static IP settings edit /etc/init.d/network-static

One bug has been identified to date.

If you change tone setting on the hardware config page e.g. to uk, then zaptel fails due to the software writing duplicate entries e.g. fxsks=1 into zaptel.conf. Removing these entries doesn't appear to resolve the issue. The best method to date is to use vi and edit the file directly.

To perform this process:

  • root:> cd /etc
  • root:>vi zaptel.conf

For UK settings amend as detailed below:

loadzone = uk
defaultzone=uk

reboot

The hardware config page in the GUI will now display UK tone.
