The AT620 SIP/IAX Business phone from Atcom has arrived today the 5th August 2009 and all customer backorders will be dispatched immediately. The AT620 is a brand new model by Atcom and is built around a broadcom chip and offers headset support unlike its predecessors
Atcom has today 2nd July 2009 released a new firmware for their Atcom AT510 and AT510P phones. The firmware fixes a recently discovered bug where if using the IAX protocol calls placed on hold are dropped. The firmware will appear soon on the Atcom website but can also be downloaded here.

We only have a limited amount of the Atcom ag188 in stock and will be moving to the newer AG188n model in June. The AG188n is pretty much the same device and still supports both SIP and IAX protocols. The major change is the better styled casing as can be seen from the image below
Finally an iax phone with support for a headset! We so often get asked if we supply such a model. Soon we will be able to say yes. The AT620 from Atcom is currently undergoing FCC/CE testing and should be with us in the next couple of months.
Key features
- Broadcom chip
- Two Sip accounts and one iax (2 accounts maximum)
- RJ9 headset port
The first shipments of the Atcom IP-BRIM asterisk appliance have now arrived (29th April 2009) and interest in them has been high. The device shares the same stable environment already available through the existing IP0x family, but now adds support for up to 4 x isdn2/BRI ports. We are offering this device at a fantastic price of £399 + VAT with additional discounts for trade customers. Please get in touch for further details.
We are expecting some new arrivals to the IP0x family in the next few days so I thought I would bring you all up to date with the current range and for the newbie's to the product, an insight into what it is.
We have been working with the product now for a couple of years and although we have always had faith in the potential of these wonderful little devices, it has only been in the last 12 months that they have developed to a point where we have started to recommend this solution above all others to our SMB customers. Thanks to all in the community that have contributed so far in making the product the success it is.
So far the following line up is available:
What is common across the range?
- Low power consumption - A business case on this factor alone would justify the purchase price
- Silent operation - no moving parts
- Ultra compact in size - The IP01 really is tiny
- Operating system pre-installed
- Powerful Asterisk PBX software pre-installed
- All required hardware pre-installed
- Complete IP Phone system out of the box
- AsteriskNow V2 GUI for easy configuration
- Command line for advanced configuration
What are the differences?
The main differences across the range are largely support for legacy telephony services but also differences in the number of network interfaces, availability of MMC memory card slots for storage and USB ports.
We supply all models with the exception of the IP-BRIM as either IP only or IP with additional legacy FXS/FXO modules. FXS modules can be used to connect analogue devices including phones where as FXO modules connect the IP0x to your BT analogue line.
- IP-01 - IP and single optional FXS or FXO module - Single NIC
- IP-02 - IP only and optional Dual x FXS or Dual x FXO or Dual FXS/FXO
- IP04 - IP only with up to a maximum of 4 optional FXS/Modules in any combination - Single NIC - MMC slot
- IP-08 - IP only with up to a maximum of 4 dual modules (FXO - FXS or FXO/FXS) - MMC port - 2 x NIC - USB port
- IP-BRIM - IP with 4 x ISDN/BRI TE ports - 1 x NIC
Why Asterisk?
I don't want to dwell on Asterisk but for those unfamiliar with the product then this is a powerful open source product that brings the features and functionality previously only available in high price enterprise solutions to the wider market. The majority of features that the SMB market requires are here.
Where is the target market for the IP0x?
The IP0x appeals to a broad market but certainly to any of the following scenarios:
- SMB Market
- Keen to benefit from Voice over IP (VoIP) technology but don't wish to totally break away from legacy phone lines
- Wish to use VoIP for outbound calls to reduce costs but keep legacy telephony for inbound calls
- Wish to explore VoIP technology but lack the technical expertise to build a server based solution and add third party telephone cards
- Wish to rapidly deploy solutions to branch offices
- Reduce power consumption within the business
- Lack sufficient space and suitable environment to host server based solution
Our first batch of Dual FXS modules for the IP08 and soon to be released IP02 Asterisk appliances from Atcom have been ordered and will be in stock from the first week in April. This will be followed later in the month by the release of Dual FXO/FXS module targeted at the IP02 appliance.
3CX version 7.1 has now completed beta testing and will be released later this month for download. The following key enhancements are available in version 7
3CX Assistant - This application is installed on the desktop and allows users complete call control, as well as extensive presence and queue information. The 3CX assistant works in tandem with a software or hardware IP phone and gives users the ability to pick up, divert, transfer and park calls with a mouse click. Management level users can monitor all users, groups and calls, dragging and dropping of calls to users is also supported!
Inbuilt reporter - the separate call reporting utility has been replaced by an inbuilt call reporter with extensive reports, including new Call Queueing reports, it's a big improvement over previous reporting tools and is well worth a look.
BCDR service - A separate service can now output CDR (Call Data Records) of calls in real time. It can output to a text file or to TCP (Hostname and port) and the format can be configured. CDR is a widely used format used for billing, particularly in the hospitality sector.
